A Feeding Tube is a device used to supply nutrition to patients incapable of doing so through the mouth or have issues in swallowing.

Types of Feeding Tubes

Permanent Feeding Tubes:

  • Gastric Tube
  • Jejunostomy Tube
  • Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy
    (PEG Tube)

Short Term Feeding Tubes:

  • Nasogastric Tube
  • Orogastric Tube




RYLE'S TUBE CARE: STEPS TO KEEP IN MIND


  • Keep it clean while administering continuous feeding, the tube should be flushed every 4 hours

  • Dispense all medications as a liquid and flush before and after with at least 5ml of water, if possible

  • Clamp the tube when you aren’t using it
